#SeriesCrackDown Update 3

Hey guys!

So I have officially finished my nights and now have the rest of the read-a-thon off to read at my pleasure. A quick summary means I have completed 5 books so far this read-a-thon:

  • The Blinding Knife by Brent Weeks
  • The Crown’s Fate by Evelyn Skye
  • Shadowsong by S. Jae-Jones
  • Fireblood by Elly Blake
  • Frozen Tides by Morgan Rhodes.

Last night was another really successful reading night, I completed both books I set out to read; Fireblood and Frozen Tides. I really enjoyed both of these and honestly cannot wait to continue with both of these series; Nightblood is out this year and hopefully I will be picking up Crystal Storm some time this week.

Now, I do have the rest of today to try and get some more reading done but coming from nights back to days is very tiring so how much I get done today will be questionable. However, I do have a few books that I want to try and get to.

acowarI am currently listening to A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas, the final book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses Trilogy. I am currently a few hours in to the 27 hour audiobook and am marking off the chapters as I go. I am listening to this on double speed and am flying through this, I plan on getting to hours 8/10 by the end of today as I have a bit of travelling to do this afternoon.

As for physical reads, I would like to continue my read of Glimpses a short story collection of different new fantasy authors; although this is not a series but rather a companion to other collections of short stories. With many of the short stories being introductions to several series themselves.

academs furyI would also like to try and make progress on Academ’s Fury by Jim Butcher, I am currently a few hundred pages in and I think today/ tonight would be a good time to sit down and try and get some more read.

I know I am currently deviating from my original tbr quite drastically, this is mainly because I didn’t predict that I would get through majority of my tbr in the first 3 days and haven’t yet been able to collect majority of my physical tbr from home. I do, however, have a large number of sequels currently with me and I can keep picking from them for the moment until I can collect the ones I wanted to focus on for this week!

So, I am five books in and I am loving this read-a-thon; I am hoping to have at least caught up on a lot of series by the end of this week. I have very few plans over the next week, so hopefully I can get some series reading done.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out what I have read so far! Let me know your favourite read of the read-a-thon so far!

Helen

  1. I’m so glad that you liked Fireblood! I have been wanting to read it, but was a bit scared that the sequel would disappoint me. My copy is at my other flat, but I do want to read it very soon and then of course get to Nighblood as well 🙂
You’re doing super well with the Readathon!! It definitely is a great Readathon for catching up on Series 🙂

    1. Thank you Caro! I actually really loved it and the more I think about it the more I liked it. A full review will be coming up soon as I am currently trying to get all my final thoughts together for it!
I am really loving this read-a-thon and although I feel like I am slowing down (thanks to being a bit under the weather!) I am really happy with my progress on some of these series!

      1. I find that when I read during a read-a-thon, I find I push myself to read more. I did try and read back to back read-a-thons for over a month and I burnt out. But a read-a-thon a month really gives me the push I need!
My issue is that when I set a tbr, I get really annoyed with myself if I cannot complete it. I feel like I let myself down even if I read it the day after if finishes. Something I really plan on working on this year!
Yes! The review is coming soon!

      2. I definitely feel the same way 🙂 Readathons motivate me but too many can quickly lead to burning out. I especially need a break after long Readathons e.g. month long Readathons!
I feel you, as I really want to get my TBR done and hate not finishing a book 😮
